KC Royals Face Minnesota Twins in Important Series

Thankfully, September has ended and hopefully our KC Royals have woken up after their first losing month in what seems like forever. These teams, who were largely thought to finish fourth and fifth at the start of the season, play for home field or a second wildcard berth in what has suddenly become an important series.

Kansas City is looking to clinch another winning record against an AL Central foe while also ending their season.

Probable Pitching Match-Ups:
Friday, 7:10 pm – Chris Young/RHP (11-6, 3.15) v. Ervin Santana/RHP (7-4, 4.10)
Saturday, 12:05 pm – Yordano Ventura/RHP (12-8, 4.20) v. Tommy Milone/LHP (9-5, 4.04)

Comments on Pitching Match-Ups – Two of these three Royals pitchers will see starts next week in the division series. Minnesota needs some big performances given what’s at stake for them.

Game 1: Young pitched excellent on Sunday given the circumstances he was dealing with in his personal life. Santana start is arguable the biggest for the Twins this season given what’s at stake.
Game 2: Ventura wants to make one more good start and have a good feeling heading into this week. Milone is 2-0 this season versus our boys in blue.
Game 3: Cueto is scheduled to pitch, guessing things could change based on what’s on the line. It’s unknown who will throw for the Twinkies but also could depend on what they’re playing for as well.

Series Prediction – Not to overemphasis but these three games are huge for both teams in need of wins. Granted Tampa Bay needs to help KC while Texas and Arizona helping Minnesota this weekend. Kendrys Morales likely isn’t going to play due to his quad sprain suffered and needing him more next week. This will be a interesting series based on what happens in Minneapolis and elsewhere, Sunday could be extremely interesting.  Prediction: Royals take two of three

2015 Meetings:
Kansas City is 9-7 this season versus their I-29 north rivals, they Twins took two of three when meeting last month and have won four of the last seven games. Oddly enough this is the Royals first trip to the Twin Cities since June.

Franchise History:
Minnesota holds an all-time lead of 380-350 between these two franchises despite trailing in the season series. KC has gone 4-2 this season at Target Field but are just 26-27 here, they’re 163-199 in the land of 10,000 lakes.

TV/Radio Coverage:
FOX Sports Kansas City will broadcast Friday and Saturday’s game with Ryan Lefebvre and Rex Hudler. Joel Goldberg and Royals Hall of Famer Jeff Montgomery host Royals Live before and after the games.

Saturday’s game will be broadcasted to a national audience on FOX with Aaron Goldsmith, Tom Verducci and Ken Rosenthal.

On the Royals Radio Network (610 Sports in KC) will be Royals Hall of Famer/2007 Ford C. Frick Award winner Denny Matthews who’s joined in the booth by Steve Physioc and Steve Stewart describing all the action from Minneapolis.
