The Royals got to a quick start to try and get that run back to cushion the lead.

The Indians would use a new pitcher, Nick Hagadone, which was the fourth pitcher in just as many batters. Eric Hosmer and Kendrys Morales both singled. This would trigger the 5th pitching change of the night for the Indians, as they brought in Scott Atchison to face Salvador Perez

Perez also singled to load the bases. Omar Infante doubled down the left field line to score two runs and increase the Royals lead to 7-4. That would be the Royals 12th hit of the night.

Cody Allen came in to pitch for the Indians and it seemed to finally be what the Indians were looking for. Despite the walk, Allen was able to record all three outs of the inning.

Wade Davis and Greg Holland came in to close out the 8th and 9th. This was Holland’s first appearance since coming off of the disabled list but he quickly got back to his normal self which was very nice to see.

Mike Moustakas went 3-4 in the game with a walk and two scored runs. Franklin Morales recorded the win and the save went to Greg Holland.

Although, Volquez did not perform as we had hoped, it was great to see the team come together to still record the win even with the challenge. Next up, the Royals will head to Detroit to start a three game series with the Tigers.
