Triple Play Podcast: Royals Offensive Offense, Astros, Diamondbacks

facebooktwitterreddit

This week on Triple Play Podcast, Reese, Matt, and I cover some of the shakeups that happened around baseball recently, namely the Astros firing manager Bo Porter, and the Diamondbacks firing general manager Kevin Towers. Towers had a pretty disastrous tenure in the Arizona front office, so this move really wasn’t all the unexpected. As for Porter, he was probably going to lose his job eventually, but it looks like this had more to do with an upper management disagreement than anything on the field of play. Ron Washington also resigned as manager of the Rangers, so we spent a bit of time on that.

In other news, the Brewers have been tripping all over themselves as they’ve fallen a few games back of the Cardinals in the NL Central. We discussed a few of the things that drove them to their current place. In the AL, the A’s continue to add talent, trading for Adam Dunn, a move we all really liked, even though Oakland has apparently forgotten how to baseball.

On the Royals, we talked about Salvador Perez getting hot, Billy Butler slumping, Christian Colon‘s broken finger, and the team’s ability to win games in spite of some terrible offensive outputs. Finally, we mentioned the Royals’ minor league awards, as we handed out on this very website just a few short days ago.
