Both Ian Kennedy and Brian Goodwin have been on the disabled list as of late. Here is the latest on their progression through rehabilitation.

Ian Kennedy

According to Rustin Dodd of The Athletic, Ian Kennedy threw a 25 pitch game simulation on August 16. If all goes well, he should be assigned to the Arizona League Royals in order to complete his rehabilitation assignment. It is unclear if he will make another appearance with the Kansas City Royals in the 2018 season for sure, but is seeming like he may be back soon.

On the season with the Royals, Kennedy appeared in 18 games, accumulating 94.2 innings. Through that time, he yielded an ERA of 5.13. That was good enough for a 1-8 record. Not the best season for Kennedy. He has now spent two separate stints on the disabled list for the strain in his left oblique.

Brian Goodwin

The Kansas City Royals acquired Brian Goodwin in a trade with the Washington Nationals, in which they sent away right handed pitching prospect Jacob Condra-Bogan. He strained his left groin, and he was placed on the 10-day disabled list as of July 29.

On August 16, he began his rehabilitation assignment in Triple-A with the Omaha Storm Chasers. He has played three games so far with Omaha. In his 11 at bats, he has two hits, both of which were home runs. He has also drawn three walks. Goodwin’s batting average within the rehab assignment has been .182.

In the five games he played with the Kansas City Royals this season, he slashed .256/.347/.427. It’s a small sample size, with a mere 17 recorded at bats. But, the outfielder is likely to find success with the Kansas City Royals in the near future.
