He then scored when Mike Moustakas grounded out to third base to record the first out of the inning and the Kansas City Royals had a 2-0 lead.

Chris Davis and Danny Duffy were able to navigate the first six innings of the game without giving up a hit. Francisco Lindor finally broke up the no-hit bid in the seventh when he led off against Ryan Madson with a bunt single. Michael Brantley walked before Carlos Santana hit a sacrifice fly to move Lindor to third. Lonnie Chisenhall then lined out to Madson who quickly tried to throw Brantley out at first but ended up pulling Hosmer off the bag with his throw.
Lindor scored, but then after significant confusion regarding whether Hosmer had been able to tag Brantley on his way back to the bag, the umpires realized that Lindor hadn’t tagged up at third. Hosmer had made the smart play to throw the ball over to third after his attempt to tag Brantley and, after much discussion, it was deemed the KC Royals recorded the third out and kept the shutout alive. If that was difficult for you to understand, don’t worry. I still don’t really know what happened either.
The Kansas City Royals picked up another run in the seventh when Jarrod Dyson hit a one-out single. He moved to second on an Alcides Escobar groundout before Alex Gordon brought him home with a single of his own to make the score 3-0
That was the final count as the KC Royals finished their last regular season home game with their 90th win of the season. They travel to Chicago tomorrow to face the Cubs in a makeup game from a previous series.
