KC Royals August 4th Minors Recap

Omaha lost in 12 innings in their series finale to Nashville, 8-6. Ryan Roberts hit the second of his two home runs to lead off the top of the 12th against Paul Clemens.

After Clayton Mortensen allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings, the Storm Chasers bullpen was solid until Clemens entered. Troy Patton was first and allowed two hits and a walk over two scoreless innings. Michael Mariot followed and allowed a hit and a walk over two scoreless innings. Brian Broderick was perfect over two scoreless innings.

Reymond Fuentes went 4-for-5 with an RBI. He also stole his 21st base of the season. Christian Colon went 3-for-5 with a solo homer in the 2nd inning.

NW Arkansas lost their second straight to first place Arkansas, this time by a 5-2 score. The Travelers scored all five runs in the 3rd inning.

Matt Murray took the loss, as he allowed all five runs on seven hits and a walk over three innings. He struck out three. Sam Selman followed and allowed three hits and hit a batter over three scoreless innings. It was Selman’s first scoreless outing since July 10th (six appearances in between). Daniel Stumpf followed with two scoreless innings of relief (H, BB, K), before Aroni Nina pitched a scoreless ninth.

The Naturals scored their runs on a

two-run home run in the 5th inning. It was his second in Double-A and he went 3-for-4.

Micah Gibbs

returned to the Naturals and went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Wilmington lost their ninth straight game in losing their series opener in Myrtle Beach, 6-1.

Luis Rico took the loss, as he allowed four runs on six hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He left with a runner on base and it scored, as Matt Alvarez allowed that run and two of his own in the sixth (2/3IP, 2H, 2BB, K). Yender Caramo finished the game for the Blue Rocks, allowing just a hit and a walk over the final two innings (six ground outs).

The Blue Rocks scored their lone run on an Alfredo Escalera two out double in the fourth.

On a positive note, the Blue Rocks turned their third triple play of the season. Humberto Arteaga made a catch with the base runners unsure of the catch. He turned and threw to second base, where Jack Lopez threw to first baseman Ryan O’Hearn for the third out.

Lexington won the rain shortened game over Augusta, 5-2. The game was called with the bases loaded and nobody out for the Green Jackets in the top of the sixth.

Corey Ray earned the victory, as he allowed two runs on six hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out five.

On offense for the Legends, Wander Franco went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Alexis Rivera went 2-for-2 with a double and a two out, solo home run in the fourth.

Burlington walked off against Pulaski, 3-2 in ten innings.

Luke Willis was hit by a pitch with two outs in the 10th inning. After a stolen base, Jose Martinez singled to center to set off the celebration. Martinez and Brandon Dulin each had two hits in the win.

Ashe Russell got the start for the Royals and allowed a run on a solo homer in the 2nd inning (4IP, H, BB, 3K). Andre Davis followed and allowed a run on three hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out five. Jake Kalish walked two over two scoreless innings. Matt Ditman earned the win in relief, as he walked one in his scoreless inning.
