KC Royals: Jorge Bonifacio Powers Northwest Arkansas to Victory

Omaha‘s finale in New Orleans was suspended in the bottom of the first due to rain. It will be made up when the Zephyrs go to Omaha at the end of the month. The Storm Chasers return home for three games beginning Monday night against Iowa.

NW Arkansas held on to beat second-place Arkansas, 9-6.

Down 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Naturals scored five runs to take the lead for good. It started with two outs and nobody on base. Alex Liddi singled (one of his two hits) and scored on Jorge Bonifacio‘s tenth home run of the season. Balbino Fuenmayor singled (one of his three hits) before back-to-back walks chased the Travelers starter. Zane Evans drove in two runs with a single, before Kenny Diekroeger drove in the inning’s final run.

Daniel Stumpf earned the win in relief, as he walked one over 2.2 hitless innings.

Wilmington was swept in Salem, losing the rainy finale 7-0. The Blue Rocks return home for three games against these same Red Sox, beginning Monday night. With the loss, the Blue Rocks only have a three game lead over both Frederick and Lynchburg.

Yender Caramo took the loss, as he allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over four innings. The game was delayed for a little over an hour after four innings.

Lexington lost in extra innings to Greensboro, 4-2. The Legends led 2-0 heading into the eighth.

The Legends collected seven hits, two each by the top two hitters in the order (Corey Toups and Humberto Arteaga).

After Pedro Fernandez threw 4.2 scoreless innings (4H, BB, 5K), Emilio Ogando took the loss. He allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk over five innings of relief. He allowed a one out, two-run home run in the tenth.
