This week’s Triple Play Podcast is jam-packed with all sorts of basebally goodness. Reese, Matt, and I kick things off with a discussion of Jurickson Profar‘s shoulder injury that could cost him a second consecutive season. We also talked about Jason Giambi‘s retirement, and a few interesting minor league signings.

From there, we spent some time on Eric Hosmer avoiding arbitration with the Royals by reaching a two-year agreement, and the team’s minor league deal with lefty Franklin Morales.

All of the major publications have released their top 100 prospects lists, so we discussed the Royals prospects getting some recognition from around the game, as well as gave our own thoughts on guys who may be underrated by some, such as Hunter Dozier and Miguel Almonte.

We continued with our MLB preview series by taking a look at the NL West, where the Dodgers and Padres have made most of the headlines this winter. The reigning World Series champs likely took a step back, while the Rockies and Diamondbacks appear to be in for a long season yet again.

Finally, we previewed the White Sox, another team who improved drastically this offseason. They have arguably the best 1-2-3 in a rotation among all Central teams, and their offense has several very good players. But even with the additions of guys like Jeff Samardzija, Melky Cabrera, David Robertson, and Adam LaRoche, the lack of depth in Chicago could be an issue as the season wears on.
