Triple Play Podcast: Royals Updates, Padres Still Making Moves, Reds

facebooktwitterreddit

With the holiday season now over, Triple Play Podcast is back with a breakdown on the recent happenings around the baseball world. We talked about the Reds’ trade for Marlon Byrd, and how they appear to be making moves for 2015 and for the future with some of the deals they’ve done this winter.

More from KC Royals News

Asdrubal Cabrera signed with the Rays, so we went over the possibility of a Ben Zobrist trade, which would make a lot of sense for just about every team in baseball. And of course, MLB requires the Padres to make at least one trade per week, so we spent some time on their acquisitions of Shawn Kelley and Brandon Maurer from the Yankees and Mariners, respectively. Seth Smith is headed to Seattle, which seems like a good fit.

On the Royals’ front, it was a slow week, but we did talk about the Ryan Madson signing, as well as the tragic end of the Ryan Jackson era.

Finally, we wrapped things up with a discussion of the Hall of Fame ballot, as well as our own ballots we would submit if the BBWAA would ever return our calls. The voting results will be revealed today, and with such a stacked ballot, we should see several players headed to Cooperstown. Then again, the writers are mostly crazy, so who knows what will happen?
