Triple Play Podcast: Royals Roster Moves, Heyward Trade, Billy Butler
There were quite a few happenings around the MLB Hot Stove last week, so we had plenty to discuss on this week’s Triple Play Podcast. We kick off the show with some discussion of Pablo Sandoval‘s market (we recorded prior to him signing a deal with Boston), and the Rays narrowing their manager search to the final three candidates, of whom two have Royals connections – Raul Ibanez and Don Wakamatsu.

We then moved onto the major trade between the Braves and Cardinals that sent Shelby Miller to Atlanta and Jason Heyward to St. Louis. The White Sox made a pair of nice moves in bringing in Adam LaRoche and Zach Duke, so we spent some talking about their potential for contention next season if they can add a few more pieces.
As for the Royals, we of course had to break down the departure of Billy Butler, and how his price tag justifiably scared the Royals away. Last week’s roster moves also gave us more discussion material, as we talked about the Royals’ acquisition of Reymond Fuentes and what he could bring to the organization. We then spoke a bit more about the additions of Jorge Bonifacio and Orlando Calixte to the 40-man roster, and whether or not there were other players we would have liked to have seen protected from the Rule 5 Draft.
