Royals AFL November 10th Recap

Peoria is in first place!

Despite how poorly the Javelinas started the Arizona Fall League season (5-10-2 after three weeks), Peoria has moved a 1/2 game ahead of Surprise in the West Division with just three games remaining (14-13). Peoria beat the Saguaros this afternoon, 10-4.

The game was close (4-2) before the Javelinas erupted for six runs in the bottom of the sixth. They sent 11 men to the plate and collected six hits. Two of those hits were two-run triples and one was a Francisco Lindor (Cleveland) solo home run to get the scoring started.

Hunter Dozier scored a run on one of the triples (he had walked in the inning). He started at third base and batted third. Dozier went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored. He also struck out once.

Bubba Starling was called out on strikes in the 6th inning. He batted seventh and played centerfield. Starling went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk.

Ali Williams collected his third hold of the AFL, as he threw two scoreless innings of relief for the Javelinas. He allowed one hit while striking out one. Williams threw 16 of his 24 pitches for strikes combined in the fifth and sixth innings.

Peoria looks to stay in first place on Tuesday when they travel to play Salt River, who clinched the East Division this afternoon when they beat Scottsdale and Mesa lost to Glendale.
