Royals AFL November 7th Recap
Peoria remained a 1/2 game back of Surprise in the West Division with five games to go in the Arizona Fall League season. The Javelinas walked off against Salt River, 5-4. It came after the Rafters scored two runs in the top of the ninth.
Centerfielder Bubba Starling led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and came around to score on pinch-hitter Jacob Wilson‘s (St. Louis) one out single. Starling went 2-for-4 with a two out RBI in the 2nd inning (he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double). He also committed a fielding error (his first in the AFL) that led off the Rafters 9th inning.
Hunter Dozier once again started at third base. He went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Lefty Daniel Stumpf got a blown save (his first) when he allowed a solo home run to Peter O’Brien (Arizona) in the fourth. In two innings of relief, Stumpf allowed two hits and struck out two. He threw 27 pitches, 18 for strikes.
Peoria finishes out the week at Salt River on Saturday afternoon. Miguel Almonte is the listed starter for the Javelinas
*Former KC Royal Jason Adam threw two scoreless innings of relief for Salt River. He struck out one and hit a batter. Adam allowed a single to Dozier and got Starling to fly out.
