Royals AFL October 8th Recap

Peoria played their first official home game on the second day of the Arizona Fall League, but lost to Surprise, 8-2.

The Saguaros scored three in the first and never looked back. Lefty Sam Selman entered in the 3rd inning in relief and command once again proved to be a problem.

He walked the first batter he faced. After a single, a sac fly drove in another Surprise run. Selman would get a force out, but a single and another walk loaded the bases. However, he got a infield pop up to escape the jam.

Ali Williams would pitch the seventh and had a much better result. He was perfect, with a ground out, a pop up, and a strikeout.

Raul Mondesi made his first AFL start at shortstop and went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, and a run scored. He did strike out twice.

Hunter Dozier was the DH and went 0-for-4 with an RBI. He struck out twice and grounded into a double play.

*In other games, the AFL had their first postponement due to rain since 2011, when Glendale was rained out at Mesa.
