Royals July 31st Minors Recap

Omaha beat Tacoma, 8-0. The Rainiers collected just two hits.

Though the Storm Chasers pitching staff only allowed two total hits, they did walk eight. Chris Dwyer allowed both hits, but only lasted six innings because he walked five and threw 110 pitches. After Michael Mariot threw a perfect inning of relief with two strikeouts, Donnie Joseph pitched the final two innings. He walked three and struck out three.

The Storm Chasers offense collected 15 hits. Ten of the hits came from the 3-6 hitters. Brian Fletcher and Ben Broussard each had three hits. Max Ramirez and Pedro Ciriaco collected two hits. Gorkys Hernandez also chipped in two hits, including a double.

NW Arkansas was shut out by Arkansas, dropping them into second place in the Texas League. The Naturals lost 5-0. They have now lost five in a row.

The Naturals collected just three hits, one each by their two newest players (Jorge Bonifacio and Lane Adams).

Brooks Pounders took the loss, as he allowed five runs on five hits and four walks over 6.1 innings. He allowed two 2-run homeruns, the last chasing him from the game.

Lexington lost to Kannapolis, 3-2 with all of the scoring coming late.

The Legends scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a Mark Threlkeld double and a wild pitch. The Intimidators came back with three runs in the bottom of the eighth, helped by two Legends’ errors.

The loss negated the start by Miguel Almonte, who allowed just one hit over six innings. That hit led off the 2nd inning.
