Royals June 30th Minors Recap

Omaha salvaged a victory in their finale against Iowa with a 3-0 win.

The Storm Chasers scored all of their runs over the first two innings. Anthony Seratelli drove in two runs in the first with a two out single (one of his three hits).

Danny Duffy picked up the win with 5.2 scoreless innings of relief of Kelvin Herrera (3IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, K). Duffy struck out seven.

*In roster news, the KC Royals released veteran Xavier Nady from his contract and he signed with the Colorado Rockies. To take his place, catcher Manny Pina was added.

NW Arkansas beat visiting Frisco, 8-5.

Sugar Ray Marimon picked up the win, as he allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. Both runs came on a six inning homerun. The Naturals bullpen then allowed three runs over the game’s final two innings.

Cheslor Cuthbert hit his first Double-A homerun, a two-run shot in the second. He also chipped in a double. Brian Fletcher also had two hits, while Roman Hernandez and Whit Merrifield, the Naturals 7-8 hitters, went 6-for-8 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Wilmington‘s finale against Potomac was rained out. It will be made up as part of an August 18th doubleheader. The Blue Rocks now head out on the road, beginning in Frederick on Monday night.

Lexington won their suspended game from Saturday night by an 11-1 score over Hagerstown. The Legends scored in every inning but three and collected 14 hits. Every player had at least one hit and they stole five bases.

Terrence Gore and Alex Hudak collected two hits in the win. Mark Threlkeld chipped in with three hits.

After Leonel Santiago‘s start was halted due to rain (3IP, 2H, 0R, BB, 3K), Aroni Nina picked up the win with four innings of relief. John Walter then fired two perfect innings of relief.

The Legends lost Game 2, 2-1. Cameron Gallagher‘s 7th inning solo homerun accounted for their only run (one of his two hits).

Miguel Almonte took the loss in the complete game (6IP, 5H, 2R, BB, 3K). Both of the Suns runs were scored in the second.

The Legends now head home to face Greenville for three games beginning on Monday night.
