Royals June 19th Minors Recap

Omaha and Albuquerque played two on Wednesday afternoon and the Isotopes easily took Game 1 by a 11-3 final. They scored nine runs in the 3rd inning.

Brian Sanches started and faced seven hitters in the third. He left with two of them on base and both scored when George Sherrill entered in relief. Sanches allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits over two-plus innings. Sherrill allowed two of his own runs in that inning.

On offense for the Storm Chasers, Adam Moore collected two of the team’s five hits. He also drove in a run and Christian Colon hit a solo homerun in the first that gave them a 1-0 lead (they actually led 2-0).

In Game 2, Brett Hayes hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth, as Omaha won 2-1.

Everett Teaford had a solid start, allowing one run on five hits over five innings. Will Smith picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief.

NW Arkansas gave up six runs in the bottom of the seventh and lost 8-3.

Aaron Brooks was cruising along until that 7th inning (though he had allowed two runs to that point). He allowed a single and two walks before allowing a one out infield single to tie the game at 3-3. He was then replaced (while also getting ejected) by Edwin Carl, who allowed all three inherited runners to score, along with two runs of his own (and he only recorded one out). Noel Arguelles came in and cleaned up the mess.

On offense, Cheslor Cuthbert originally tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth with a double. Orlando Calixte and Brian Fletcher (the 2-3 hitters) went a combined 4-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI.
