Omaha Blows Huge Lead, Must Win on Sunday
Omaha blew a HUGE lead on Saturday night, as they lost to Albuquerque, 12-10. The Isotopes forced a decisive Game 5 on Sunday for a spot in the Pacific Coast League finals.
The Storm Chasers offense was clicking early and often, as they led 8-2 after the third inning. In the second, they scored four runs on four hits and an error. In the third, they scored three runs on an Adam Moore three-run homerun. He homered again in the 5th inning.
After Jason Bourgeois homered to lead off the top of the 7th inning to increase the Storm Chasers lead to 10-3, it looked as though they would be celebrating a return trip to the PCL finals. The Isotopes had other things in mind.
They scored NINE runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. They collected eight hits (five for extra bases). Tony Gwynn‘s three-run homerun with one out gave the Isotopes the lead.
Sunday afternoon’s win or go home Game 5 will be held in Albuquerque. Justin Marks will get the start for Omaha in just his second Triple-A game. His first start came at Albuquerque in the final series of the season and he didn’t make it out of the 2nd inning (1.2IP, 7H, 9R, 3BB, 0K). Hopefully Sunday will be different.
