While the Royals are in the middle of their draft with an eye towards stocking the farm system, we’d also like to welcome a new name to the team.

Jen Nevius, who has written about the Royals for Aerys Sports, will join Kings of Kauffman to help cover minor league updates with a particular focus on the Wilmington Blue Rocks. I’m looking forward to seeing her contributions to the blog and hope you are too.

I’ll let Jen tell you more about herself and background:

My love for baseball (or as some would say, obsession) started back in 1995 when my dad was given
tickets to a Wilmington Blue Rocks game as a gift. We went, loved it, and have been going to minor
league games ever since. Going to Blue Rocks games, I have seen Glendon Rusch strike out 17 (which
was a record), Mike Sweeney go from Wilmington to the big leagues, Jimmie Byington (one of my
favorite players) play all nine positions, Brian Sanches pitch a no-hitter, two All-Star games, and the Blue
Rocks win three Carolina League titles. I have also seen tons of players advance to the big league level
and move on to other things in life.

Being a Jersey girl, people always question my following of the Royals. I love watching the guys I saw
and/or met in Wilmington make it to the big leagues. I make it a point to see the Royals play at least
once a season in person (usually in Baltimore).
