Tonight we continue an exciting new venture for Kings of Kauffman and its podcast, the Royalman Report.

Jeff Logan of the Kansas City Baseball Historical Society joins forces with us to form the Kansas City Baseball Vault on Kansas City’s ESPN 1510 AM from 6-7 p.m. every Thursday night. Listeners can tune into traditional radio or streaming live on 1510.com.

Tonight, we’ll talk with George Toma, the legendary groundskeeper who kept the fields at Municipal Stadium and Royals/Kauffman Stadium in top shape. He’s worked on the fields at Arrowhead Stadium, at Super Bowls and two different Olympic Games. Toma was recently named one of the inaugural inductees into the Major League Baseball Groundskeeper Hall of Fame. We’re looking forward to hearing his stories of Kansas City’s past players and his work around  the ballpark.

We’ll also talk with John Sadak, the voice of the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Sadak calls the High A team’s games and follows the team everywhere they travel, so he’s seen his share of prospects at that level and we’ll pick his brain about his impressions of a few players on this year’s squad.

Along with that we’ll cover the past week in baseball in Kansas City and try to guess what lies ahead.

Just like last week, we plan to have a trivia question and a giveaway, so be sure to listen in. Last week, three listeners won free ticket packages to go see the Kansas City T-Bones. You like winning things, right?
