KC Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer, catcher Salvador Perez, relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera, and closer Wade Davis earned All-Star nods on Tuesday night.

Salvador Perez ended up leading all players with 4,965,838 votes. First baseman Eric Hosmer also was voted onto the team, with relievers Wade Davis and Kelvin Herrera selected by their manager Ned Yost as part of the American League pitching staff.

The 26-year-old Perez earned his fourth All-Star nod, though this is the first time he won the total vote for starting position players. AL first base vote winner Eric Hosmer earned his first All-Star appearance at age 26.

Meanwhile, KC Royals manager Ned Yost picked 26-year-old reliever Kelvin Herrera and 31-year-old Wade Davis as part of his relief staff for the second season in a row. Both pitchers earned the second All-Star nominations of their careers.

Davis, however, will not participate in the game after the KC Royals put him on the 15-day disabled list with a forearm strain immediately before Tuesday’s 8-3 loss to Toronto. Yost will have to select a replacement to fill Davis’ spot.

Add in former KC Royals rookie-of-the-year Carlos Beltran (1999) and former KC farmhand Wil Myers named as an NL reserve, and there are plenty of 2016 All-Stars with Kansas City ties.

Two spots remain with the Esurance Final Vote still to come. Fans can choose from Ian Kinsler, Evan Longoria, Dustin Pedroia, Michael Saunders, and George Springer in the AL. For the NL, the Final Vote candidates are: Brandon Belt, Ryan Braun, Jake Lamb, Starling Marte, and Trevor Story.
