KC Royals Cheslor Cuthbert Leads Omaha to Victory

Omaha scored nine runs over the first three innings en route to their 9-5 victory over Fresno. The Storm Chasers are 5.5 games back (still in third place) with nine games remaining.

Alex Gordon was back to being the DH and went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored. Reymond Fuentes went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Cheslor Cuthbert went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Christian Colon went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Jose Martinez went 1-for-4 and now leads the Pacific Coast League in hitting with a .386 average.

Andy Ferguson earned the victory, as he allowed three runs on five hits over 5.1 innings. He struck out five, but allowed three solo home runs.

NW Arkansas lost their series opener to Arkansas, 7-3. The Travelers scored five runs in the top of the fourth.

Paul Clemens made the start for the Naturals and took the loss. He allowed six runs on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings.

On offense, the Naturals collected ten hits, but went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Terrance Gore

moved into the two hole and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and his 39th stolen base.

Lane Adams

went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Zane Evans

also had two hits in the loss.

Wilmington lost in walk off fashion in Myrtle Beach, 1-0 in 12 innings. It was their tenth walk off loss of the season.

With two outs in the bottom of the 12th, Ashton Goudeau allowed a solo homer. Goudeau allowed that one run on three hits over 3.2 innings of relief. He struck out five, including the first two batters in the 12th.

Matt Strahm got the start for the Blue Rocks and allowed two hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four and induced seven ground outs. Andrew Edwards followed and allowed a hit and a walk over 2.2 innings while striking out two.

The Blue Rocks collected six hits, including two each from Humberto Arteaga and Cam Gallagher. They also had chances to score, including bases loaded opportunities in both the second (with no outs) and the third (with two outs). Gallagher was on third base with two outs in the top of the 12th.

Lexington lost to West Virginia, 8-1.

The Legends collected just five hits, two coming from Samir Duenez (including a double).

All three Legends relievers allowed an inherited run to score. Starter Yunior Marte took the loss, as he allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out five, but left in the fourth with two men on base. Torey Deshazier was next and allowed four runs on three hits and four walks over just 1.1 innings. He left with the bases loaded for Eric Stout, who allowed two runs on two hits and two walks over three innings. He left with a runner on base for Brennan Henry, who allowed two hits over 1/3 of an inning.

Idaho Falls lost to Grand Junction, 7-6. The Rockies scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good.

D.J. Burt extended his on-base streak to 46 games, as he went 2-for-4. Amalani Fukofuka went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. Roman Collins also had two hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs.

Josh Staumont took the loss in relief, as he allowed four runs on three hits and three walks over 1.2 innings. Daniel Concepcion got the start for the Chukars and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Burlington beat Greeneville, 3-1. The two teams combined for three runs in the first.

Enmanuel Camacho earned the victory, as he allowed the one run on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four. Joseph Markus followed with three (plus one batter in the ninth) scoreless innings (H, BB, 4K). Jacob Bodner earned his fifth save, as he entered in the ninth with a runner on base and left it stranded (he did allow two hits, but struck out two).

Brian Bien and Ben Johnson each had two hits in the win. Johnson hit a two-run home run in the first and tripled in the 3rd inning. Angelo Castellano went 2-for-3.
