The KC Royals managed to garner an early lead in this game which is something they’ve struggled with for over a week. Alcides Escobar led off the game with a single and moved to third on Mike Moustakas’ single to right before Eric Hosmer hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Escobar.

They tacked on another run in the second inning. Omar Infante reached on an infield single and moved to third on Jarrod Dyson’s follow-up double. Alcides Escobar was able to hit a sacrifice fly to score Infante before the inning ended and the Royals were up 2-0.

In the fifth inning, Alcides led off with another single and Kendrys Morales was able to drive him home with a two-out double to up the score to 3-0.

The Rangers were able to stage the beginning of a comeback in the 7th inning when they loaded the bases before Leonys Martin plated two with a one-out single past Omar Infante to make the score 3-2. This left runners on the corners and the Rangers were then able to tie the game at 3-3 when Robinson Chirinos came up with a ground ball to the shortstop to score the runner at third.

The KC Royals were not to be denied however. With two out, the Royals broke the tie in the eighth inning when Salvador Perez smoked a line drive over the left field wall to make the game 4-3.

Greg Holland came in to get the save as the KC Royals were able avoid the sweep at home, salvaging the finals game of the series. They start a series against the Minnesota Twins tomorrow, as they look to get themselves back on the right track.
