Peoria beat Mesa, 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The Javelinas broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth on three straight singles to start the inning.

KC Royals prospect Miguel Almonte got the start for Peoria and was solid, though a bit wild. He did not allow a hit or a run over three innings while striking out three. He did however walk three, hit a batter, and balk. He also committed an error in the first when he dropped the ball at first base. Almonte threw 32 of his 55 pitches for strikes.

Fellow Royal Ali Williams followed in relief and pitched two scoreless innings. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out four. He threw two wild pitches. Williams threw 21 of his 33 pitches for strikes.

Hunter Dozier, who was named to the West Division roster for Saturday’s Fall Stars Game (8pm ET on MLB Network), started at third base. He batted fifth and went 1-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

Bubba Starling started in centerfield, but dropped to eighth in the Javelinas order. He went 1-for-4 with a double. HE DID NOT STRIKE OUT.

Peoria continues on the road for the third straight day on Wednesday afternoon when they play at Glendale.
