If the Royals aren’t giving you a headache and an inordinate amount of blind rage, I’m not sure if you’re doing it right.

The Red Sox started the scoring in the third inning when Jemile Weeks hit a one-out double and was singled home by Mookie Betts. After a Xander Boegarts strikeout, Daniel Nava was hit by a pitch. Yeonis Cespedes singled in another run and Nava was able to move to third on a throwing error by Mike Moustakas. Yordano Ventura threw a wild pitch and run number 3 crossed the plate. Down 3-0. Hooray.

The Royals scored a few in the fourth as Alex Gordon walked and Eric Hosmer followed that up with a home run to right field. That was it for the scoring. I wish I could say that was surprising but the only thing exciting about those runs was that they came via one of them thar  “home runs” everyone talks about but the Royals have struggled to find as of late.

The Red Sox picked up another run in the fifth as Jemile and Mookie struck again with a double and an HBP. Bogarts flew out and Nava singled. That was it. All she wrote. 4-2 and no more 1st place.

Yordano Ventura went 7 innings and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. Also of note: Greg Holland returned tonight and had an inning of work. He struck out the side giving up a walk.

The Royals have got to turn things around. They’ve got to score runs. This lineup isn’t working. Get it together.

Before it’s too late.
