Braves at Royals – Series Preview

The Royals will try to build off an exciting 7-6 series finale victory against the White Sox when the Atlanta Braves make their first appearance at the K. This will complete the teams four game home and home season series.

Series Preview –

Over the last week KC has lost four of their last five games while Atlanta has dropped five of its last seven games. In all the years of interleague play the teams have not met at Kauffman Stadium so it will be a historic meeting on Tuesday night. All-time the Braves lead 5-3 with series in Atlanta in 2004 (KC took 2-of-3), ’10 (ATL sweep) and earlier this season.

Probable Pitching Matchups –

Tuesday, June 25 (7:10 pm): Kris Medlen (4-7, 2.96) v. Ervin Santana (5-5, 2.64)
– In June Santana is 2-0 with a 0.94 ERA (3 ER in 28.2 innings)
– The “Magic Man” hasn’t allowed a walk in six of his 14 starts this season
Wednesday, June 26 (7:10 pm): Mike Minor (8-3, 2.89) v. Luis Mendoza (2-4, 4.40)
– Mendoza will be looking for his first home win of 2013 he’s 0-2 in five starts at the K
– This will be his first start against Atlanta and just his seventh start against the NL

2013 Results –                    

When Kansas City traveled to Turner Field on April 16-17 the teams split with the Braves winning game one 6-3 and the Royals getting a 1-0 victory. Wade Davis was excellent in the second game going seven innings and shutting out Atlanta’s powerful offense.

TV/Radio –             

Fox Sports Kansas City will have both games of the quick two game series with both beginning at 7:10 with Ryan Lefebrve and Rex Hudler. Royals live with Joel Goldberg plus Royals Hall of Famer Jeff Montgomery begins 30 minutes before and immediately after the game. 610 Sports Radio will have all three games as well for anyone unable to watch on TV with Royals Hall of Famer/2007 Ford C. Frick Award winner Denny Matthews and Steve Physioc plus Steve Stewart.
