The Royals won both games of a 2 game series against the Chicago White Sox. They are now 4-1 against the Sox on the year.
Monday 5/4
Matchup: Zack Greinke vs. Bartolo Colon
Result: 3-0 Win
Greinke tossed a complete game shutout to beat the White Sox. He struck out 10, allowed only 6 hits and didn’t walk a single batter. As a team, the Royals hit .303 for the game in support of Greinke with 1 home run and 1 double. David DeJesus and Mike Jacobs each had 2 hits in the game.
Tuesday 5/5
Matchup: Kyle Davies vs. Gavin Floyd
Result: 8-7 Win
Davies was far less effective than Greinke the night before. In 4.0 innings he gave up 8 hits, 6 runs, 2 home runs and 3 walks while striking out 2. The bullpen came in and threw 7.0 innings of 1 run ball. They allowed 8 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9. Offensively they hit .262 with 11 walks, 2 doubles and 2 home runs. Teahen, Butler and Callaspo had multi-hit games. John Buck won the game with a 2-out bases loaded single in the bottom of the 11th.
Series Impression:
The starting rotation threw 13.0 innings with a 4.15 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 12 SO.
In 7.0 innings of work the bullpen posted a 1.29 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 9 SO.
