1) Royals Desperately Need Some Success On The Road
No matter what happens on Father’s Day (Sunday), the Royals will enjoy a winning homestand. After an off day Monday, they play two games in New York against the Mets before getting yet another off day on Thursday.
After the mini-road trip to New York, the KC Royals play five games at Kauffman Stadium against the Cardinals (two games) and Houston (three games). On June 29, they begin an eight game road trip to St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Toronto.
Sweeping that two game swing in New York could go a long way towards getting the road monkey off the Kansas City Royals backs. They’ve suffered two awful road trips this season, which has given the KC Royals a 13-23 record away from Kauffman Stadium.
If the Royals can figure out how to play even .500 baseball on the road, it make them the favorites to emerge from the pack and repeat as AL Central champions.

At this point, their road struggles appear to be as much a mental thing as anything else. When the Kansas City Royals blew a ninth-inning lead in Cleveland to break their six game winning streak, the loss snowballed into eight straight losses. Winning two against last year’s NL champs could restore he KC Royals road mojo.
Let’s hope the Baseball God are kind to the Royals in New York.
