Royals AFL October 11th Recap

Peoria lost their first night game and first official road game on Saturday night. The Javelinas lost to Mesa, 6-3.

The Javelinas scored all three of their runs in the top of the seventh on Tony Wolters‘ bases clearing double with two outs. That was the Cleveland catcher’s first hit in the AFL (he has also played second base for Peoria).

Hunter Dozier was back at third base after having Friday off. He went 0-for-3 with a walk.

Miguel Almonte made his AFL debut. He pitched the fourth and allowed a leadoff home run to Matt Olson (Oakland). It was Olson’s second homer of the game. After the homer, Almonte allowed a double and a walk before inducing a double play. He got a line out to end the 4th inning.

Ali Williams made his second relief appearance and was roughed up a bit. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk over one inning. He did strike out two. With one out, Williams allowed a two-run double in the sixth.

After Week 1, the Javelinas are 2-3. After Sunday’s off day, they will travel to Glendale on Monday night.
