There were several tough cuts on this list. Players like Kevin Appier, Dennis Leonard, Alex Gordon and Willie Wilson certainly could make a case to be included. Perhaps in a few more years, Eric Hosmer or Greg Holland can join the discussion, further crowding the list of top draft picks in the history of the Kansas City Royals.

While there is no question as to who the Royals best draft choice in team history is, there could be a decent amount of debate about who holds that second spot. A case could be made for any of the players listed in the top five, and even for some of the players that did not make the cut.
