Here at the Royalman Report, we’re not 100% Royals – we like to do our best to cover the other big stories in Kansas City sports if they pop up and there is currently no bigger story than the scandalous charges going on at One Arrowhead Drive.

With Troy and Michael “on assignment,” we had the JV squad of Jeff Herr and Chris Kamler manning the submarine tonight.

We had the author of the Kansas City Star article “Arrowhead Anxiety,” Kent Babb, in the Man Cave to discuss the current state of the Kansas City Chiefs. Kent also spent time recapping his article and then had strong words for the Kansas City Media, whom he called “corrupt.” Kent was very opinionated and pulled no punches when it came to TV and Radio Stations and the Chiefs. He also shot a couple torpedoes towards fellow KC Star columnist and friend of the program, Sam Mellinger.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that many Royals fans are also fans of the Kansas City Chiefs. Hopefully, if that’s the case, you already know about FanSided’s Chiefs site, Arrowhead Addict.

FanSided exists because of the success Arrowhead Addict had in the early days and continues to have today. Our founders, Adam and Zach Best, launched the network on the heels of AA’s success with the addition of sites to cover the other NFL teams. Shortly thereafter they made the decision to go all in and start team sites to cover all the teams in the 4 major sports. If there’s no Arrowhead Addict, there’s no Kings of Kauffman.

We’ve grown by leaps and bounds since then, but none of it would have been possible if Arrowhead Addict hadn’t come into existence and blazed the trail for us. The site remains one of the cornerstones that this network is built upon.

You can show your support for AA, Kings of Kauffman and the network by voting for FanSided in the About.com Readers Choice Awards.

That’s right Arrowhead Addict is a finalist for About.com’s Reader Choice Awards in the category of Best NFL Team Blog.

Currently, Arrowhead Addict is in second place in the voting behind Mile High Report. You Chiefs fans out there don’t want a Broncos site to win, do you? Do you?!

So if you’d be so kind, we’d appreciate it if you could take a moment out of your day to vote for Arrowhead Addict. A vote for them is indirectly a vote for Kings of Kauffman and every other site and writer that calls the FanSided.com Sports Network home.

It’s really easy to do. There is no need to register, create an account or anything like that. Just click here and click on Arrowhead Addict (don’t click on any of the other blogs or your vote will go to them).

The Royals and Chiefs could potentially have their leases broken because of the financial woes in the county.

Thursday, Mayor Mark Funkhouser put forward his plan, which includes eliminating nearly $2 million the city gives each year to the Truman Sports Complex.

“This came with no notice to us. We were unaware that this was even going to be an issue,” Sanders said in a KMBZ radio interview. “The money would be the violation. But the fact that we would have violated a substantive provision would mean those leases are now gone … We would be on a tightrope or a high wire with no safety net.”Sanders said if the city pulls its $2 million annual contribution, it would break the lease and leave the city with no written guarantee keeping the Royals and Chiefs in Kansas City for the long term.”The teams would then be, to use the sports phrase, free agents to do whatever they wanted to do. Re-negotiate the deal or to not honor any of the provisions of the lease they did not want to honor,” Sanders told KMBC’s Martin Augustine.“This came with no notice to us. We were unaware that this was even going to be an issue,” Sanders said in a radio interview. “Those leases are now gone. … We would be on a tightrope or a high wire with no safety net.”
