Another series and another home opener for their opponent, this time the AL Champion KC Royals are in Minneapolis against the Twins. Kansas City took care of Los Angeles winning all three games in Anaheim behind Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Kendrys Morales and Salvador Perez among others.

Their opponents Minnesota have had a rough start getting swept by the unbeaten Tigers and losing two of three at the White Sox. Last season, the KC Royals won the season series against the Twinkies, who this season are projected to finish last in the central.

Probable Pitching Match-ups:
Monday, 3:10 pm – Danny Duffy/LHP (0-0, 9.00) v. Trevor May/RHP
Wednesday, 7:10 pm – Edinson Volquez/RHP (1-0, 1.13) v. Kyle Gibson/RHP (0-1, 14.73)
Thursday, 12:10 pm – Jason Vargas/LHP (1-0, 3.00) v. Tommy Milone/RHP (1-0, 0.00)

Comments on Pitching Match-ups –
Game 1: Duffy will make his second start of the season after getting a no-decision versus Chicago last week at home. Trevor May makes his 2014 debut in front of the Target Field faithful on Monday afternoon.
Game 2: Volquez was masterful on Thursday afternoon against the White Sox holding them in check for eight innings. Gibson has been a Royal pain in previous seasons and will no doubt want to rebound after a rocky first start.
Game 3: Vargas posted a win at LA on Friday night and has had success in Minneapolis last season, which hopefully continues. Milone is another guy who’s bothered KC going back to when he pitched with Oakland, he also has the teams lone win.

Series Predictions – This looks like a slam dunk of a series for Kansas City on the final leg of this road trip doesn’t it? I’d like to go that way but you know baseball superstitions have me going the same route I’ve gone this early season. I don’t think Minnesota is as bad as their record suggests but I do love how Kansas City is playing right now. That said I don’t think a sweep is in order but KC will claim another series. Prediction: KC Royals take two of three

2014 Meetings:
A season ago Kansas City had a 11-8 record versus Minnesota which included going 5-5 at Target Field oddly enough.

Franchise History:
The Twins hold an all-time series advantage of 373-341 with a mark of 197-159 in the Twin Cities, including a 25-22 mark at Target Field.
