Thursday was a good day for Peoria, as they broke their four game losing streak with a 9-4 victory over Mesa.

The Javelinas actually trailed 4-0 after the top of the first, as their starter did not get out of the inning. In came KC Royals reliever Daniel Stumpf with the bases loaded and just one out. He allowed one run to score via a sac fly.

Stumpf went on to earn the victory. He allowed just one base runner, a hit batter in the third with two outs. Otherwise, Stumpf was great (2.2IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K). He threw 29 pitches, 21 for strikes.

The Javelinas put up a five-spot in the bottom of the second to take the lead. In that inning, both Bubba Starling and Hunter Dozier walked. Starling scored the tying run.

Starling went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Dozier went 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, and a strikeout. He drove in a run with a single in the fourth.

That single drove in Royals teammate Raul Mondesi, who went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored (he would score again in the sixth). Mondesi also stole a base and struck out once.

Lefty Sam Selman earned his first hold, throwing two scoreless innings of relief (the sixth and seventh). He allowed one hit and struck out four.
