Triple Play Podcast: Key Injuries, Royals Limp into All-Star Break

facebooktwitterreddit

We’ve reached the 25th episode of the Triple Play Podcast, and to celebrate, I took the week off. Luckily for you, Reese and Matt stuck around to talk about all sorts of baseball things. They start the show by discussing some major injuries to Yadier Molina and Masahiro Tanaka. Both the Cardinals and Yankees will sorely miss those star players as they gear up for a run toward the playoffs. St. Louis picked up George Kottaras, who still can’t seem to find regular work. New York had a bad rotation with Tanaka, so things may get quite a bit worse now.

In the second segment, the guys continue talking about injuries, except this time about the Royals’ Alex Gordon and Jason Vargas. Those two players have been incredibly valuable this season, so it’s imperative they return to full health as soon as possible. The Royals limped into the All-Star break, and the replacement players aren’t all that inspiring. This team has a lack of depth in some areas, and these injuries are only shrinking their margin for error.
