Series Preview: White Sox (21-24) at Royals (22-21)

The homestand enters its final leg tonight as the Royals (22-21) welcome the White Sox (21-24) back to Kauffman Stadium tonight. After splitting their four game with Baltimore, Kansas City is 4-2 during their extended stay at home.

Probably Pitching Match-ups:
Monday, 7:10 pm – Scott Carroll/RHP (1-3, 5.24) v. Jason Vargas/LHP (4-1, 3.00)
Tuesday, 7:10 pm – Andre Rienzo/RHP (3-0, 4.20) v. Yordano Ventura/RHP (2-3, 2.40)
Wednesday, 7:10 pm – Jose Quintana/LHP (2-3, 3.67) v. Jeremy Guthrie/RHP (2-3, 4.76)

Comments on Pitching Match-ups – Liberty, Missouri native Carroll opens the series for the visiting White Sox while Andre Rienzo and Jose Quintana round out the series. On the other side KC will throw Vargas/Ventura/Guthrie over the three games. On paper the Royals seems to have the advantage but we’ve been there thinking that before right?

Series Predictions – I’d love to call for a sweep and a 7-2 end to their nine games at home but I think 2-of-3 seems more realistic which means 6-3 which isn’t bad at all. A big factor to my thinking is that Chicago has some major injuries with Chris Sale and Jose Abreu which should help Kansas City out.

2014 Meetings:
It’s been over a month since these teams squared off which was also at the K during opening week. Guthrie threw the home opener in which the Royals won 7-5, game two went 4-3 in KC’s favor when Wade Davis got the win. Sale and James Shields faced off in the finale which Chicago won 5-1.

Franchise History:
Even with the results from when they both met in April, Chicago leads all-time 358-326. KC holds a 179-159 advantage in the City of Fountains and 157-148 at Kauffman Stadium.

TV/Radio Coverage:
Fans can tune into FOX Sports Kansas City for all three games with Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler. Joel Goldberg and Jeff Montgomery host Royals Live pre and postgame from Rivals in right field. Royals Hall of Famer/2007 Ford C. Frick Award winner Denny Matthews is joined in the booth by Ryan Lefebvre and Steve Stewart will be on the Royals Radio Network (610 Sports Radio in KC) describing everything from the K.
