Kansas City returns home following a 3-4 road trip at Cleveland and Baltimore last week. Our boys in blue return to Kauffman Stadium where they’re 6-3 so far in 2014. The Royals will square off against Toronto followed-up by Detroit this weekend.
Probably Pitching Match-ups:
Tuesday, 7:10 pm – Dustin McGowan/RHP (1-1, 6.88) v. Jason Vargas/LHP (2-0, 1.54)
Wednesday, 7:10 pm – Drew Hutchison/RHP (1-1, 3.46) v. Yordano Ventura/RHP (2-1, 1.80)
Thursday, 7:10 pm – Mark Buehrle/LHP (4-1, 2.16) v. Jeremy Guthrie/RHP (2-1, 4.22)
Comments on Pitching Match-ups – With Bruce Chen pushed back a day KC will have Vargas, Ventura and Guthrie on the mound this series. Fans must be pleased with how this shakes out given how this trio has preformed early on. Vargas has been a pleasant surprise so far and faces McGowan and his high ERA. Games two and three the Jays throw Hutchison and Buehrle in what on paper look like decent pitching match-ups.
Last season Toronto won four of six meetings against Kansas City winning both series 2-1. In the series at the K the Blue Jays won by scores of 8-4, 3-2 with the Royals winning 3-2. At Rogers Centre results were the Jays winning 3-2, 4-2 and again KC taking the final by a 5-0 decision.
Toronto leads 187-178 all-time between the franchises but the silver lining is Kansas City leads 95-87 at Royals/Kauffman Stadium.
Fans can tune into FOX Sports Kansas City for all three games with Ryan Lefebvre and Rex Hudler on TV. Joel Goldberg and Jeff Montgomery host Royals Live before and after from Rivals in right field. Royals Hall of Famer/2007 Ford C. Frick Award winner Denny Matthews is joined in the booth by Steve Physioc and Steve Stewart will be on the Royals Radio Network (610 Sports Radio in KC) describing the action.
