Triple Play Podcast: New Play Tracking Technology, Royals Roster Issues, AL Wild Card Preview

On this week’s episode, Reese, Matt, and I discussed the announcement from MLB Advanced Media about the new technology they will be using to track every play in every stadium, beginning in 2015. As I mentioned in this post, this is huge news, especially in the realm of defensive statistics. We also talked about the Phillies and the controversy surrounding reports alleging that they turned two of their unsigned draft picks over to the NCAA. Needless to say, we weren’t fans of the move.

After that, we moved on to the topic of the Royals potentially starting the season without a backup middle infielder on the roster, which is something I’ve talked about on this site multiple times. Finally, we continued our AL Wild Card previews by talking about the Seattle Mariners’ outlook for this season, after signing the biggest free agent on the market this winter, Robinson Cano.
