I can't help but say that yesterday afternoon the Cardinals got "Yosted" twice once when Butler tied the game in the 9th and second when Betancourt won the game in the 15th. He looks like a good manager to me and I hope he is Yosting for a long time in KC.

can we revisit the first game of the season? Chen went 6.1 innings with 3 hits, 4 Ks and no walks. Oh and no earned runs.

@ArrowFan I check in with Milwaukee blogs and fans on MLB sometimes and they seem to like Yost more than some Royals' fans and bloggers.

@jim fetterolf I would also like to add that Yost is the best Manager we have had in the last four or even five. The grass is always greener, and be careful what you wish for.

If the Royals were like Tampa, Billy and Alex would already have been traded for prospects. Tampa is a good model, but had a great deal more talent in the pipeline than GMDM did six years ago, so could step up into contention much faster than a team that had much less available talent than an expansion club.

I think the pitching has been surprisingly good this year, as has much of the team, the obvious exceptions have been Frenchy, Alex, and Hosmer. Even Billy has had some cold spots, last night's single giving his first RBI in weeks. If the five "big ball" players were performing at last year's level, we'ld probably be in 1st place in spite of the pitching and the injuries. Just the breaks, but breaks tend to even out over 162 games, so I'll stick with my 82 win prediction, made after Cain and Perez were hurt...

Checked some numbers, last year's team scored 4.5 rpg, pitching staff had a 4.45 ERA. This year the team is scoring 3.83 rpg, ERA is 4.09. I think most of us assumed during the off-season that the offense would be as good or better this year than last, so a .40 ERA improvement would make for a competitive club. Had someone predicted that Paulino and Duffy would hit the DL early and still the ERA would drop, there would have been dancing in the streets.

As for dogging Master Chen, Jared Weaver isn't the only ace he's faced this year. How did he do against some of the others? Bear in mind that when two aces face each other, only one team can win. I think Chen has done quite a good job. He's no ace, but he keeps the team in games and most of the time gives them a chance to win, no matter who he is facing. Careers don't take the field. Ask Luis Mendoza:)
