TJ surgery is way better than, say, a Torn Labrum. Pitchers these days can have much worse malady than TJ. Sure, it hurts to be without him for an extended period of time – a year recovery, and then a year of not-quite-fully-recovered.

let’s be honest here though – with this rotation, its not like this injury is what is going to prevent us from competing. It might keep us from staying out of the cellar, but it isn’t too costly for this particular collection of players.

@eric.akers It might. A lot depends on how long Duffy will end up being out. Mendoza filling in for him capably yesterday probably ends up making him the heir to that spot in the rotation because a) someone has to do it and b) he’s already had the workload for that day that matches up. Montgomery would have to be added to the 40 man, too, which isn’t a huge obstacle, but it’s still one more step.

Ideally, of course, they find nothing in the MRI, Duffy sits for a month to get right, and then comes right back before July.

“Elbow” and “pitcher” are not two words that usually pair up and result in good news, though.

All I can really say is, “CRAP”.

Wait, wait, I have more. I wonder if this means we may get a look at Montgomery sooner than expected, or we will try one of our three long relievers.
