A great look at a very complicated situation. It makes me wish I were inside Hosmer’s head so I could know what’s going on. I do wonder about the risk of going “all in.” I hate the idea of mortgaging a future to win now because there’s no guarantee of winning “now.” Ask the Brewers. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say there’s a 25% chance Hosmer signs a team-friendly contract (which would be any contract that doesn’t cripple us). That potentiality sucks because I think Hosmer’s a good guy, and I love having him in KC. I don’t want to see KC turn against him for wanting more money or for KC to turn on the Royals because they can’t pay him the money to keep him. It’s a situation that could turn into a lose-lose in about 6 years.
