@davidwlowe I agree that I feel a little badly for Coleman. Over the years I have found that these issues typically work themselves out, like with Paulino setting our rotation by needing some rest. Somebody in the pen will either underperform or become injured. The nice thing is that usually the Royals do not have replacement level pitchers to take their place, so this makes me feel good in that I know we have some quality ready to step in when it does happen.

@davidwlowe I hope that’s the case. He’s been one of my favorites since his first year in the organization when he tore through both levels of A ball fresh out of college.

@michael.allen.engel Yep, I agree he’ll be back up. I just remember his dad being so excited when he pitched in Texas last year in his debut. Hopefully he will understand the options game that is played and not get discouraged.

@davidwlowe He’ll be back. They weren’t shy about the idea that with so many relievers with options, they’d shuttle them up and down as necessary and with a rotation like they have, they may have to dip into the bullpen fairly often for stretches.

Tough for Coleman not to make the squad after being on the squad all year in 2011. The acquisition of Broxton and Mijares spelled his doom.
