Pretty much figured the Royals would land Quintero once it popped up that they were scouting him after the injuries. For what the Royals need, he'll do, though I wouldn't have minded seeing Cody Clark get a shot to split with Brayan Pena. I didn't hear Dayton's comments but my guess is that if they go and get a guy they want to play him most of the time, so Clark wouldn't have been a full time option so much. Not sure Quintero's that much better, but eh. About June, it may not matter as the Royals hopefully get Pina and Perez back.

It was clear that they didn't want Max Ramirez behind the plate (think he caught maybe four games all spring so far), so it's not shocking that they went outside the organization.

My main issue is why did the Royals go after Bourgeois and why give up Chapman? Maybe Chapman wasn't a big prospect but if you strike out 12+ per nine innings anywhere, that stands out to me. His walks were up there, but they weren't any worse than Tim Collins. I'm not going to get up in arms over it though. I think I saw some folks acting like they'd traded Wil Myers and John Lamb for these two. Chapman's absence won't break the organization.

Bourgeois has some serious splits, .328/.269/.409 against lefties in 200 PA, .205/.253/.251 against righties in 231 PAs. He's fast, supposedly plays all three OF, plus some 3rd and 2B.

Quintero looks like a Ned Yost catcher, supposedly good catch and throw, hits lefties nearly as poorly as righties, baseball reference doesn't care for his defense. Kind of Matt Treanor without the walks.
