@davidwlowe This sounds reasonable enough to me. I'm not naive enough to think they didn't have a reason to part ways. I just think they didn't consider the manner in which they did it at all. This made them look like bumbling fools and made White look even more of a victim. I liked having him in the booth. Not enough to go insane over the fact that he's gone, and I'm sure they will find someone who will do an adequate job. I just really didn't like the way this thing went down. I also loved Frank White as a player and sometimes it's hard to separate your feelings for someone as the player they were and the person they've become in your organization. I've been at fault there many times. Thanks for your take.

Here's the deal, in my opinion:

1. Frank was passed over several times for the manager position with the Royals. He did his time in the minors with the Wranglers and was successful as both coach and mentor to great players like Gordon, Butler and Grienke. But he was continuously passed over even though fellow teammate Hal McRae was given the opportunity to manage.

2. This caused Frank to be negative about the current manager whenever he had the opportunity. Why? Because he could do better in his mind...he should be there instead of Muser, Hillman, Yost, etc.

3. This root of bitterness and jealously caused him to be negative off camera, in the clubhouse, in the hallways, etc. This has gone on for many years as Frank saw his window of opportunity closing as a manager with the hiring of Ned Yost.

4. The new crew in place (Moore, Yost, etc.) heard the reports about Frank wanting the job Yost got, and his bitterness, and then they experienced it first hand. Second guessing the manager off camera, etc. Moore finally got tired of it.

I see Frank White as a decayed tooth that needed to be excised. He was a great player and I will always LOVE him in that respect. His statue should remain and he should still be revered and respected as a player.

But his attitude had become caustic to the organization, and his presence became the source of daily tension in the front office and clubhouse. This was the "real" reason Frank was let go. However, I fault the organization for not firing him for good face to face. This was the proper way to do it, not through a FoxSportsKansasCity representative.
