Kings of Kauffman Week in Review

The big news of the week was the Jonathan Sanchez/Melky Cabrera deal:

That was the big headline of the week, but Bob McClure did an interview at FanGraphs that stirred up some discussion. Kevin Scobee, who has experience as a pitcher in college as well as a pitching coach, gave a strong rebuttal to a lot of McClure’s coach-speak which seems to favor results over method. It’s really a must read:

While you read his response, you might load up our interview from the Royalman Report with Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. He’s a fantastic interview and anytime you get the chance to speak with him and hear stories of old players and especially Buck O’Neil, you should take it.

Speaking of Buck – Sunday is his birthday:

On top of that, I floated the idea that it might be time to shop Joakim Soria and added another prospect review, covering Aaron Crow this time around.
