I kind of like the idea of trading Soria, with Holland and Herrera we have a good chance of replacing his production, closers seem to be selling fairly high, and Bucholz, with his 3.8fWAR in '10 values a touch higher than Derek Holland or Gio Gonzales in '11. Back injuries are worrisome and I don't know how his contract compares to Soria's, but this could be a good move. Let me look at fangraphs...five years in the majors, about six innings per start, +3 on net k, good groundball percentage, reasonable HR, better than average LD% at 17,4% career, 92-94mph FB; FB, SL, and CH all plus pitches. 27 years old, 6'3, 190lbs, career fips close to ERA, good BABIP, likely based on GB%. Even up is good and I'ld even throw in D Robinson or maybe C Robinson on the deal. I like it, assuming his back holds up. If healthy, he's our #1 starter and Soria is replaceable, like Melky was.BTW, great post. I was thinking the same thing when I saw that Boston had lost Pap. Soria's a good fit for Fenway.
