@royal_in_cincinnati A small quibble on 'regression': When a new approach, new swing, and new conditioning is in place, an old mean may no longer apply. Gordon is healthy and has a new swing, Melky is in shape, and Frenchy has made swing adjustments and lost some weight, so there is some hope for an elevated mean. One thing that will help all of them is the overall quality of the offensive line-up, no longer easy to pitch around anyone but Giavotella and Escobar and even they can do some damage. As for the rotation, we'll have to see, but Hoch, Paulino, and Chen have started to establish themselves, Duffy has shown some flashes and has shown the ability to learn quickly, and Teaford and Adcock have both shown enough this year to be considered #5's next year. Then there's Monty and his long-toss issues, Dwyer with a nice second half, and Odorizzi probably up next June. I think we'll be fine, but if Oakland wants to trade a good pitcher for a AAA 1B, AAA DH, a relief pitcher, and a couple of AAA OFs we could oblige them. They certainly have needs and Kila has OBP:)

Some of the players are due for some regression, but I think they are cancelled out by rookies who should advance. If Francoeur and Cabrera come back to earth a little, Hosmer and Moustakas can fill in. If Gordon doesn't end up a 6-8 WAR player, I think Giavotella and Perez can make up for that. The offense is good, and might get better.

The rotation is where the issues lie. Can Monty or Duffy be a front of the rotation starter by next season? Is Hoch's 2nd half the real Hoch? Can Paulino really holdup as a starter? Who do the Royals target in the trade market, and what does it cost? They have plenty of options for #5 starter/swingman with SOS, Mazzaro, Teaford, Mendoza, Crow, Holland. Does Dwyer or Odorizzi get a shot out of spring? Or anytime next year? How long does it take Lamb to come back from TJS?
