I think I can create a fourth group for you guys....Jim you get that group just for consistently sticking to your guns with Getz.

LastRoyalsFan, I actually agree with you regarding sabermetrics. I think intense stats are fantastic and I love the book "Moneyball" an everything, but I think that people can be to set in their ways on both sides. I'm all for a happy medium.

I'm with Jim and think I fall into the same Fourth Group. I read and enjoy most of the local Royals blogs but admit that the blogosphere is dominated by disciples of sabermetrics. I actually believe (gasp!) that the best evaluation of baseball players uses a combination of stats and eyeballs. That is why I also particularly enjoy Lee Judge's work.

I find it funny to read the comments made to Royals stories in the mainstream media. "They've always been terrible and always will be" seems to be the mantra of this group. If they would look past the standings they would see what is really going on with this organization and where they are likely headed. Unfortunately, those types won't get there until the standings bear out the results, so they can jump on the bandwagon and claim to be Royals fans for life.

You are right that the team needs all types of fans. We really need the stadium full of blue, regardless of their level of dedication through the rough years.

Good piece, Ethan. I'm a fairly diehard fan but manage to avoid the urge to wallow in Pop Tart driven Negative-Nancyism and don't hate Chris Getz and I also think Lee Judge is the best Royals' blogger around, so probably need my own, special "Fourth Group".

I've seen the progress since GMDM showed up and follow the minors fairly closely, so have been watching the future approach like a wall cloud on the horizon. Always something good going on in the system and hope springs eternal in the minor leagues. More fans will hop on when the wins start piling up, just the nature of Kansas Citians.
