Kila is hitting better than a lot of established big-leaguers this April, there is nothing damning about a bad month and no real reason to assume that the guy will never hit. Justin Morneau has an OPS 10 points lower than Ka'aihue, should the Twins ship him back to AAA? Cut ties entirely? I don't get the outcry either.

I like the 'concept' of Kila; big, somewhat athletic 1B with good eye, awesome power, and adequate defense, but am not sure that he will have the chance to get a full year or two to prove himself simply because of the competition. He has Hosmer and, perhaps even sooner, the also 27 year old Clint Robinson bearing down on him and C Rob also deserves a chance to produce, establish a career, and enhance trade value, as the numbers suggest that neither Kila nor Clint have much chance of being part of the '12 team, much less the 'future', unless some other team trades the farm for Billy Butler, the least toolsy of the bunch. Kila is having his chance and needs to produce, otherwise I think he gets sent back down by the break. Too bad, I appreciate his effort and the fact he's been a good soldier through the Mike Jacobs idiocy, but his lack of production is starting to look like Jacobs blocking a minor leaguer.
