As a fan, I really want to see him on Opening Day...but it might be better to see him start in Triple A and move up than have to be sent down if he isn't hitting. I think he'll hit, make plays, steal bases and be a fan favorite, but that doesn't guarantee he'll get the shot right away. When we aren't going to compete anyways, why start the arbitration clock on a player when we don't necesarrily have to? I'd rather hope(wait for hell to freeze) that Melky puts together a good season and hope to flip him to a contender for a lower-level prospect at the deadline and then bring Cain up for the rest of the season. And while the point about any promises made to Melky is well taken I think it's all about nothing as Spring Training moves forward. Melky has been on the decline for years & Sugar Cain will prove in ST to be the better player. It won't be a tough decision. Agreed on Cain.
