I agree that Moore has had a pretty conservative approach at promoting players unless they are dominating (Lamb for example). The reason Hosmer and Moustakas saw full seasons at Wilmington was b/c they struggle a bit. Now if Myers starts the year struggling at the plate or for some unknown reason doesn't take to the outfield, then they will slow him down. There really should be no reason he should just be an avg outfielder, that is probably his floor. But I don't think he has to see 500 PAs in any league just to get PAs.

The move to the outfield in no way "lengthens" his timetable. If anything it shortens it. I figured end of 2013 if he stuck at catcher, so now end of 2012 makes sense. Moore doesn't care about the team control portion of this conversation, I don't think. If he doesn't put a winner on the field in 2013 and 2014, he is gone anyways.

I think that's pretty fast, especially considering the Royals philosophy. Last year Hosmer and Moustakas were destroying Wilmington and NWA respectively, yet it took them until July to move Hosmer up to Double A and only after Moose was moved up too. Dayton's philosophy as of late has been "if you think they're ready, wait a month."

Myers only got 211 plate appearances in Wilmington last season, meanwhile Hosmer got nearly 500 over the last part of 2009 and the first two-thirds of 2010. I'd say a July call up could be in the works. If all goes well from there, a July 2012 call up to Triple A and then a 2013 debut about June.

Though if he's raking at a 1.000 OPS over 300 PA at any point, I think a jump is warranted. For now, I think they'll be patient with him.

Shouldn't he see AA to start the season? I think AA to start the season, and it's up to him if he wants to see AAA this season. Half season in AA and a full season in AAA or vice versa. He has a better batting eye than Moustakas, and can hit the ball like Hosmer. He has a great chance to be in KC by the end of 2012.
