I'd really like the Royals to go in this direction and see where it takes them this season.

LF Derrick Robinson
CF Jarrod Dyson
1B Billy Butler
DH Kila Ka'Aihue
RF Alex Gordon
2B Mike Aviles
3B Mike Moustakas
C Brayan Pena
SS Yuniesky Betancourt

BNCH Chris Getz
BNCH Wilson Betemit
BNCH Lucas May
BNCH Mitch Maier

This order and defensive alignment will at least allow for solid defense in the outfield to help the young pitching staff. It will also create excitement at the top of the lineup even if Robinson and Dyson aren't getting on base (think Vince Coleman and Willie McGee STL circa 1985). Let Mouse play right away and hope he can find his inner Buster Posey.

As for the starting rotation I'd like this for opening day....

SP Zach Greinke
SP Vin Mazzaro
SP Sean O'Sullivan
SP Luke Hochevar
SP Mike Montgomery

and in the pen....

LRP Gil Menche
LRP Kyle Davies
MRP Jessie Chavez
MRP Kanekoa Texeira
LHSU Dusty Hughes
RHSU Blake Wood
CL Joakim Soria

Montgomery can learn as he grows like SF's Madison Bumgardner. Keep him as the number five starter and see where it leads. Maybe I'm rushing the kids here but what are we all waiting for? I see the Royals heading in the same direction as the 2007 Tampa Bay Rays before exploding in 2008. Let the prospects play and see what you got. What's the worse case losing?? At least the payroll would be lower.....

"I’ve been saying this for a while, though, not in blog form."

How convenient for you to say this now.

Dayton Moore has fooled us all. He intentionally brought in players like Guillen and managers like Hillman to sandbag the team for enough time to rack up high draft picks. Once he had our farm system stacked he tossed the dead weight to make room for these future superstars on the roster.

There's always been two processes: the one we know about and thought sucked; and the one DM had been planning all along.

Brilliant.

Well, you can credit the scouts for finding them and minor league teams for helping them develop, but the point is that trying to avoid giving Dayton credit is a mistake that I've heard too many people make.

Who else besides DM would we credit for the improvement if the improvement is solely due to the fact that the farm system is ranked so high?
